OUR QUALITY CERTIFICATION

Quality is the set of properties and characteristics of a product, process or services which make it suitable to meet the explicit or implicit needs of whomsoever these are intended for.

Quality is vital in all spheres of social life as a requirement demanded by users and consumers and something that everyone equates with progress. It is the appropriate response to the needs and demands of our customers: pupils, families, teaching and other staff, institutions, companies, even society itself.

In 1.988 a group of European businessmen set up European Foundation Quality Management (EFQM) and created the European Model for Business Excellence, which advocates forward self-assessment as a procedure for improving organisations. In 1.986, the ITE (Institute of Education Techniques) of the CECE, along with the Quality Management Club, carried out the adaptation of the European Model to the world of Education and university training. In May 1.997, on the occasion of the 25th CECE Congress, the CECE’s Institute of Education Techniques presented the adaptation of the European Quality Model to the education world.

Since the CECE’s Institute of Education Techniques adapted the European Quality Model to the Education World, Teaching and training centres, regardless of their nature or size, have had access to a quality culture appropriate for their needs and context, and can then act with Total Quality variables. Families, social environment, teachers and the whole staff already have a landmark enabling them to objectify sensations and providing them with tools for improvement meeting their own requirements.

Total quality is the continuous improvement of persons and processes. All the functions of an organisation should be constantly perfected to reach an optimum level of effectiveness.

GRAN ASOCIACIÓN-COLEGIO has a special interest in the matter of Quality. For this reason it has been compiling data on the matter for the last three years and finally, in 2001, advised by the Institute of Education Techniques, CECE started to implement its Quality Plan.

A Quality Committee was set up for this purpose, presided over by Ms. Pilar Rivera Roses, Quality Director, who is assisted by scholarship holders of the Polytechnic University and the advice of a consultant from the CECE’s Education Techniques Institute.

Working groups have been set up to get a process of constant improvement under way leading to satisfaction through the changes taking place. Amongst the most significant activities connected with Quality that Gran Asociación is undertaking are:

  • As representative of FECEVAL, Gran Asociación-Colegio forms part of the Follow-up Commission of the Valencian Institute for Quality and Assessment of the Valencian Authority’s Education Department for preparing our own quality model in the Valencian Community.

  • Gran Asociación-Colegio attended the European Quality congress held at Madrid Conference Centre at its 2001 and 2002 events, obtaining at the latter the "Recognition for Quality" granted by the CECE’ Education Techniques Institute along with Spain’s Quality Management Club, in its category 1.

  • Gran Asociación-Colegio has started up working groups at the Centre which are going to handle:
    • preparation of a survey model for parents
    • the creation of a suggestions box as a system for collecting data to allow us to improve the quality of our services
    • typifying the School’s ordinary and extraordinary processes

  • Gran Asociación-Colegio is an Official Experimental Centre for implementing the quality model at Education Centres
