GRAN ASOCIACIÓN-COLEGIO started work in 1853, its founder being Mr. José Vicente Fillol Soriano, a distinguished teacher at Valencia University, with the assistance in this enthusiastic project of: the Marqués de Campo, the Marqués de la Romana, Cardinal Payá, Conde de Trigona and other great men of the time.

Shortly after its beginnings the prestige that the new school was attaining meant that in 1866 architect Monleón was commissioned with the building that we now know today, in its perfectly renovated state.

The School has had royal visits from Queen Isabel II, Queen Victoria Eugenia, Amadeo I of Saboya, Alfonso XII, Princess Isabel de Borbón, etc..
GRAN ASOCIACIÓN-COLEGIO has an extremely dense history completely entwined with our city’s life. It is doubtlessly the most singular and genuinely Valencian School of all. No significant circumstance of the last two centuries has gone by it.

At present it is a modern school that preserves its history and traditions and whose aim continues to be that of offering Valencians a quality education.
